On Friday 17 June 2011, the Embassy of Japan will host an evening with actor, writer and theatre director Simon McBurney of Complicite, whose celebrated projects have included the hugely successful Japan-UK collaborations The Elephant Vanishes and Shun-kin. The evening's very special guest is the Rt. Hon. Jeremy Hunt, Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media & Sport, who has spent some time in Japan and will talk about his experiences there.
This event is being organised in conjunction with The Japan Society, which will be accepting donations on the night for its own Tokoku Earthquake Relief Fund. It is by invitation only, but we are offering a number of places especially for Embassy of Japan webmagazine subscribers. Proceedings will start at 6.30 pm. Places are limited and will be allocated on a strictly first-come, first-served basis. Registration in advance is essential. To apply, please email theatre@ld.mofa.go.jp by 5pm on 14 June with your name, email address and affiliation, quoting WEBMAGAZINE in the subject line.
