What's New

Established in 1985, and originally known as the UK-Japan 2000 Group, this is a group set up to study Japan-UK cooperation, based on an agreement between the prime ministers of the day, Yasuhiro Nakasone and Margaret Thatcher. It is a custom that recommendations adopted through discussions at the meeting are submitted to the prime ministers of the two countries. Members include MPs, former diplomats, business executives, academics and journalists. The annual meetings are held alternately in Japan and the UK.
