Japanese Government (MEXT) Undergraduate Scholarship Programme in Japanese Studies

British Association of Monbusho Scholars
May be able to answer questions from an insider's viewpoint - the website has an "Ask A Fellow" forum, and a guide to the main universities in Japan.
