Those familiar with Japan may know that everything from local governments and police departments, through to doughnut restaurants, have a character – or mascot – to represent their brand. We thought it was only appropriate that the Manga Jiman competition has a great mascot, too!
What are we looking for?
We want those interested in taking part to submit us an original mascot character that they feel represents Manga Jiman. The mascot can be in full colour or black and white, and should fit inside a square.
Who decides the winner?
From all the entries received, the Embassy of Japan will select a shortlist of four mascots, which will then be put to a public vote on Facebook and Twitter, starting from 1 June and running until the 11 June 2018. The mascot that receives the most likes, comments and shares shall be declared the winner. Please see the terms and conditions for full details of how scoring will be weighted.
What happens to the winning mascot?
The Embassy of Japan will use the character for promotional purposes on and off social media. The winner will be invited to and acknowledged at the award ceremony for the 2018 Manga Jiman competition, which will run later this year. The ceremony itself will take place in early 2019. The winner will also receive two traditional Japanese board games (shogi and go) with English instructions, alongside some Manga goodies!
Please read the full terms and conditions (PDF) before entering. By submitting an entry, you agree to these terms.
Entries must be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday 30 May 2018.
Once we receive your entry, we will send you a confirmation email.
