Fairfields has organised exhibitions, which included work by manga artists and manga influenced artists, as part of many different exhibitions, for some seven years now. This is the third year of this exhibition which is just of y manga artists and manga influenced artists.
Although essentially a Japanese art form, this exhibition has work by manga artists from all over the world, including Japan, China, Singapore, Canada, the USA and the UK. Many of these artists whose work we are showing are only in their twenties, but already have thousands of fans, as Manga is the art form of choice of the Web 2.0 Generation. Indeed, many of these artists state their media as ‘Pencil and Photoshop CS.’
There are two short films you can watch, including an interview with one of the artists, Gillian Seing Ying Ha. Gillian won the Japanese UK Embassy’s ’Manga Jiman’ First Prize a few years ago as the best manga artist in the UK.
