His debut feature Raw Summer (2005) won the Fantastic Off-Theatre Competition Grand Prize at the 2006 Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival, a celebrated event for independent cinema in Japan. Since then, he has gone on to direct several features adapting his own screenplays, such as Mugiko-san to (2013), with the actor Ryohei Matsuda, or popular manga such as Silver Spoon (2014). In 2016, he adapted and directed the comedy-thriller drama Himeanole based on a manga by Minoru Furuya with star Gaku Hamada and V6 boyband singer Go Morita. His film Thicker Than Water participated in the film festival Japan Cut 2018 in New York and features the manzai comedian Keiko Enoue making her debut in the big screen.
