This month, the spotlight falls on Ambassador Keiichi Hayashi as we take the chance to find out more about him.
Manga takes a front seat in February with the prizegiving for the Embassy's popular Manga Jiman competition signalling the start of our exhibition of shortlisted entries as well as a masterclass with Mr Seiji Iwami at the V&A Museum. Also this month, the magical story of Tanabata will be brought to life at Leeds University's Tanabata Festival.
For the academics among you, two insightful seminars feature in this edition, 'The Varieties of Capitalism Revisited' (comparison between Japan and the UK) at Sheffield University and 'The Role of the State and the Future of Higher Education in the UK, Japan and Continental Europe' at the Nissan Institute, Oxford University. Both seminars are supported by funds provided by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mr Keiichi Hayashi, formerly Minister Plenipotentiary to the UK, was appointed by the Japanese Government as the new Ambassador of Japan to the United Kingdom on 11 January 2011.
