On 3rd November 2011, the Government of Japan announced the 2011 Autumn Conferment of Decorations on Foreign Nationals. The Decoration is conferred on those individuals or groups who have made outstanding contributions towards friendship and mutual understanding between Japan and their own countries. In the United Kingdom, 2 British citizens will be conferred.
1. Jonathan Thorpe Gregory (Chairman of the UK-Japan Music Society and Music Director of the UK-Japan Choir)
Conferred The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette for his contribution to the promotion of cultural exchange between Japan and the UK through musical activities with musicians from both countries.
2. Paul Henri Norbury (Former CEO of Global Oriental)
Conferred The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays for his contribution to the development of Japanese Studies and the promotion of understanding of Japan in the UK.
