Set in Japan, 1868: the last shogun has been defeated, the age of the emperors is about to begin. The story is centred around seventeen year old Hana.
Lesley Downer lived in Japan for more than 15 years. She has written many books about the country and has presented television programmes on Japan for Channel 4 and the BBC. After the talk there will be an opportunity to meet the author over a glass of wine.
