Taste Japan! Charity for Tohoku!

As Japan struggles to fight against the consequences of the 11th March Tohoku earthquake, described as the most devastating disaster since World War II. The Action for Japan UK “Taste Japan” fundraising event aims to raise funds and awareness through quality Japanese food, Sweets and Sake (Rice Wine). All the proceeds of this event will be sent to Japan Society Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund to support local organizations working to help people in the affected areas by the earthquake and tsunami.

The event will consist of:

  • Japanese Sake, Food and Sweets tasting
    There will be a variety of sake and foods including: Teriyaki chicken & salmon, Ebi-furai (Fried prawn), Gyoza(Fried Dumplings), Kara-age, Coroquette, Edamame(parboiled immature soybeans), Onigiri(rice ball), Salmon-maki(sushi roll), Kappa-maki(sushi roll)!
  • Short lecture about Japanese Sake and Food (Rie Yoshitake, Sake Samurai Association UK representative)
  • A movie made by people the people of Tohoku
  • Traditional Japanese music (Japanese drums and shamien)
