Hokusai Exposed
26 October - 17 November 2013, London
Hokusai Exposed is an immersive exhibition experience showcasing the stunning work of Katsushika Hokusai, one of the world’s greatest and most inspirational artists. It is also the first international showcase of a new and thought-provoking concept in the world of art viewing: “re-create”.
Developed by an award-winning Japanese author and scientist, “re-create” is the process of creating artwork again, with the new artwork appearing just as the original would have done when it was first painted or printed. The colour and detail that have been lost in the passing of time are restored, thanks to cutting-edge digital imaging technology, re-creating a “new” work that links the artist of the past to the audience of the present.
Visitors can also delve into a dimly lit underground world of ghosts and girls, and enjoy a projection mapping installation that presents a beautiful interpretation of Hokusai’s re-created works and world of art.
Admission: £5-8, purchase on the door
