Workshop : Designing Murakami: Making Murakami Cover Art with VINTAGE

12 October 2018, London

This drop-in workshop gives participants the opportunity to illustrate a postcard featuring their own original cover design for their chosen work by the popular Japanese author MURAKAMI Haruki. The workshop is led by Suzanne DEAN, creative director for the jacket designs of the UK editions of the Murakami collection and designer of the hotly anticipated new Murakami novel ‘Killing Commendatore’.

This event is accompanied by a pop-up display of Murakami jacket designs in the Japan House Library from Friday 5 October to Sunday 14 October. ‘Translating Murakami’ a talk by Murakami translator Ted GOOSSEN with Murakami academic Dr Gitte Marianne HANSEN is also held on Thursday 11 October.

This series of Murakami Haruki events at Japan House is organized in collaboration with VINTAGE, a division of the Penguin Random House publishing house. The VINTAGE imprint Harvill Secker publishes ‘Killing Commendatore’ in the UK on 9 October 2018

Drop-in; Admission Free

Please note that capacity in the Library is limited, so entry to the workshop is on a first-come first-served basis.
