Kenji Yoshida : Infinite Light

2 April - 9 May 2015, London

October Gallery, London, will present a solo exhibition of works by the late artist, Kenji Yoshida from 2nd April - 9 May 2015. The show will focus on his exquisite works in oils and metals, created in the latter part of his life.

Yoshida was born in 1924 in Ikeda City (part of present day Osaka).  He studied art under Kiyoshi Hayashi Sensei before his studies were interrupted by the war. After the close of hostilities, Yoshida pursued his art again and devoted himself to a sustained exploration of the life-affirming forces that he had seen so nearly extinguished.  From that point onwards the majority of his work has carried the most telling of all titles: Peace and Life.

In 1993, the individual qualities of Yoshida’s work were recognised when he was honoured as the first living artist ever to be given a solo exhibition at the Japanese Galleries of the British Museum.
