
Lose Your Mind

Reflecting upon the work displayed in the current exhibition Lose Your Mind, this talk will consider the materiality of traditional Japenese art, covering the major styles, themes and formats before moving on to the continuity and innovation observed in contemporary forms.
Talk by Dr Akiko Yano is the Mitsubishi Corporation Curator (Japanese Collection) at the British Museum. Yano specialises in Japanese paintings of the late medieval to early modern periods. She was one of the curators of the special exhibition at the British Museum in 2013 Shunga: Sex and Pleasure in Japanese Art.
