START Art Fair

10 - 13 September 2015, London

START, presented by Prudential, is held at Saatchi Gallery between 10th and 13th September. Its aim is to shine a spotlight on emerging artists and new art scenes. 38 galleries from cities such as Seoul, Cape Town and Riga showcase the best of their gallery rosters with an emphasis on artists who are new to London. Complementing the fair this year, START Projects presents curator-led solo presentations and group exhibitions in the second floor of the Saatchi Gallery. START Projects includes for instance a curated section of solo presentations called 'This Is Tomorrow’ and a debut UK solo show by Prudential Eye Award winners Chim↑Pom and a fully immersive digital art presentation by Japanese ultra-technologists teamLab.

Consisting of three digital, interactive pieces, teamLab’s exhibition Flutter of Butterflies beyond Borders brings our attention to the relationship between us and nature. In the largest piece of the exhibition, Flowers and People, Cannot be Controlled but Live Together - A Whole Year, Dark (2015), flowers will keep on springing up, growing, blossoming and withering away in the real-time rendered artworks – but the viewer holds the key to affecting the cycle. Nature is constantly evolving, as is our digital knowledge: the exhibition challenges the ways of perceiving both our surroundings and the digital developments taking place
