Shun Ito Exhibition ‘Cosmic Birds’
2 - 20 May 2016, Birmingham
Gravity, movement and light are explored in this mesmerising series of performing kinetic sculptures by Japanese artist Shun Ito. Playing with light and shadow, Shun Ito also draws on his physical experience of gravity as a dancer to re-create the beauty of natural falling and spinning movements in his mechanical creations.
This fascinating exhibition of the artist’s work will include a dramatic new installation Cells, a giant mobile made up of over 200 rotating steel rings and 30 light bulbs, created in Birmingham as part of an artist residency.
