Yuzen-style silk painting

3 July 2010, London

Yuzen is a Japanese textile art where patterns are drawn on to the cloth using dye resist rice paste. The fabric is then dyed and the pattern is revealed. Using the Japantastic exhibition as our inspiration, participants will create their sumptuous silk squares following the principals of the Yuzen resist method but using modern day gutta outliner and silk paints.

Suitable for beginners as well as those with experience.

All materials will be provided but please bring an apron or old shirt.

Tickets: ¡ò40, ¡ò35 concessions. Bookings closure date: Friday 18th June 2010. To prepare materials for the workshop we require a firm idea of numbers so we need all bookings to be paid in advance and made before the bookings closure date.
