One summer there is both a drought and the spread of a mysterious illness. On her big day, Izumi, a champion high diver, makes a mistake on her last dive and sinks to the bottom of the pool. Hovering for a time between life and death, she makes a miraculous recovery, but has somehow changed. “Everything looks new,” she says and sets off for Mount Miko, the local water source, where she finds a mysterious stone that perfectly matches the design Izumi had once absent-mindedly sketched.

This fantasy film provides a curious mix of Japanese animism, New Age spirituality, and science fiction that in the end centers on how a teen-age girl comes to understand her place in the universe.
