Japanese isn’t English’ (documentary)
13 June 2018, Glasgow
Why is it that many people in Japan find it difficult to listen to and speak English?
In this documentary, Sean Mahoney, who has been teaching English at Fukushima University, Japan, since 1997, and Carolyn Biggs, who taught English in Japan for three years, discuss such issues as ‘katakana’ and ‘romaji’ making the teaching and learning of English in Japan problematic.
The screening will be followed by a discussion.
Free and open to the public.
