Shuhei, a lackadaisical student in his final year at college, is called into Professor Anayama's office and told that unless he joins the failing university sumo team, he won't graduate. Anayama, a former university sumo champion, has watched the club deteriorate into a one-man team but is determined not to let it close down. Together with Shuhei and his beautiful graduate student, Natsuko as team manager, Professor Anayama begins his recruitment drive. Thus a team of misfit students is brought together: Aoki (the incompetent club veteran), Tanaka (a lonely and overweight boy), Haruo (Shuhei's brother who is sick of wrestling in drag in the pro-wrestling club), and Smiley (who is in it only for the free room and board). An appearance on television brings them a stream of young, female fans and gradually the spirit of sumo is developed...

An entertaining glimpse into what makes sumo unique in the world of sport.
