
Izumi Ashizawa – Japanese physical performance workshop

Izumi Ashizawa is the artistic director of Izumi Ashizawa Performance, and a Professor of Directing and Devising Theatre at State University of New York at Stony Brook. Based on Japanese physical performance techniques, Ashizawa’s movement techniques are taught around the world. This two-day workshop will practice body-oriented routine exercises based on Japanese physical acting techniques and philosophy, and work with ensemble exercises in order to be able to heighten consciousness in “performance” body and communicate with others using your sixth sense on the stage.
