Yoroboshi
23 - 26 February 2011, London

Tokyo, 1960. Blinded fifteen years earlier in a US firebombing raid, a young man becomes the subject of a bitter custodial battle. Still traumatised, his psychotic outbursts expose a hidden wartime legacy of trauma and denial.
A radical reworking of the fourteenth-century text, Mishima’s gripping 'Modern Noh' offers a poetic blend of traditional and modern aesthetics. Performed here in English for the first time, this is a rare opportunity to see the work of Japan’s most influential twentieth-century writer.
