MAKOTO KURIYA MEETS BEN CASTLE & ARNIE SOMOGYI

After his successful London Jazz Festival 2012 sell-out shows at PizzaExpress Jazz Club Soho, Japanese-born piano genius Makoto Kuriya makes a very welcome return to the venue. He is now devoting his efforts to "authenticating Japanese jazz" - maintaining a distinctive cultural identity and bringing a Western-free localized Japanese jazz to the world! Tonight he will perform with saxophonist Ben Castle and bassist Arnie Somogyi.

 

Saxophonist Ben Castle is the younger son of television presenter and entertainer Roy Castle and Fiona Dickson. 


Arnie Somogyi is a much sought after musician, composer, bandleader and a jazz lecturer at Birmingham Conservatoire. 


Makoto, Castle and Somogyi will be joined by drummer Bence Bolygo.

Tonight he will perform with congo player Snowboy.


Mark "Snowboy" Cotgrove is an internationally renowned DJ, producer, percussionist and band leader (Snowboy And The Latin Section), Snowboy has been spreading the word of Afro-Cuban Jazz for over three decades.


Makoto Kuriya and Snowboy will be joined by trampeter Graham Pike, drummer Bence Bolygo and bassist Nim Sadot.
