Meet MYAKU-MYAKU at Japan House London

MYAKU-MYAKU, the official character of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan is coming to Japan House London.

Inspired by the distinctive organic design of the Expo 2025 logo, MYAKU-MYAKU is a mysterious, shape-shifting creature born from the fusion of cells and water.

Created by picture-book illustrator Yamashita Kōhei, the character was named through a public contest by entrants Kawakatsu Miyu and Sakuda Hinata. The name comes from a Japanese onomatopoeia meaning a steady, pulsing heartbeat – a symbol of life continuing through generations.
