Charity bazaar held at Ambassador's residence

On Saturday 11th June, a charity bazaar in aid of children affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami took place at the Ambassador's residence. In exceptionally good weather, more than 450 guests attended the bazaar, including people from the British and Japanese communities as well as from the diplomatic corps. Thanks to the warm support we received, the amount of sales at the bazaar exceeded £40,000. Together with donations, the total proceeds surpassed £250,000, far beyond original expectations.

The bazaar was made possible by generous donations and support from a number of companies, diplomatic missions and individuals. The Embassy cordially extends its gratitude to the many people without whose support the event would not have taken place.

The proceeds will be transferred to Save the Children Japan by the Japanese Women's Association in Great Britain, the main organizer of the charity bazaar.
