
Europe-Japan Dialogue

Mr Masataka Tarahara, Consul General of Japan in Edinburgh, is a guest speaker. The title of his talk is Recalling 30 years as a diplomat.
After graduating from Faculty of Law, Kyoto University, Mr Tarahara joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1979. His initial training at Oxford University for two years was followed by various posts, including those in Oman, The Netherlands, Kuwait, Malaysia and Canada. He also worked in 2000 as Deputy Chief of Protocol and Master of Ceremonies in Imperial Household Agency, and was in charge of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress’s official visit to Europe. Since September 2009, he has been Consul General of Japan in Edinburgh.
