Why not participate in JAPAN-UK 150? This series of events will run from September 1st 2008 to December 31st 2009, and any suitable project may be registered as a JAPAN-UK 150 event.
A project registered under JAPAN-UK 150 will be shown in the events calendar on this website and elsewhere, and will be publicised in both Japan and the UK. Such events will be able to use the official JAPAN-UK 150 logo.
Official JAPAN-UK 150 events will be those authorised by the Executive Committee in accordance with the JAPAN-UK 150 Guidelines (shown below).
Please forward your completed application form to the JAPAN-UK 150 Desk at the Embassy of Japan in the United Kingdom. After an event has been authorised, the logo for use on printed materials, posters and other relevant materials will be sent to its organiser(s).
The JAPAN-UK 150 Fund, consisting of contributions from members of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the UK and the Nippon Club, has been set up to assist organisers of small-scale events registered under JAPAN-UK 150. Funding for JAPAN-UK 150 registered projects may also be available from the following organisations ; the British Council( for school partnerships ), the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation, the Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation, the Japan Foundation, The Japan Society.
Application for registration should be made only after the proposed project has been shown to be feasible in terms of such factors as the date, place and budget. (Event organisers bear the entire responsibility for procuring the necessary funds and securing appropriate locations. Organisers of small-scale events may wish to request financial assistance from the programme mentioned above.)

In the event of cancellation or a significant change to the arrangements for an event, the organisers should inform the Embassy of Japan of the relevant circumstances without delay. Organisers should be aware that, once an event has been registered, if it is deemed that any of the guidelines have been breached, the registration may be cancelled.
The guidelines are as follows:
  1. JAPAN-UK 150 will run from September 1st 2008 to December 31st 2009. However, events scheduled to take place before September 1st 2008 may also be authorised as such.


  2. Events for JAPAN-UK 150 should fulfil one of the following criteria:
    • They should contribute to advancing mutual understanding between the Japanese and British peoples.
    • They should serve to strengthen the bedrock of exchange underpinning Japan-UK relations.
    • They should contribute to deepening and expanding the scope of Japan-UK cooperation.


  3. Events should not promote any specific ideology or religion and should not offend public decency. (Neither should organisations sponsoring events be engaged in activities that might be construed as offensive.)
