Remembering the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami 3 years on

On 11 March, three years will have passed since the Great East Japan earthquake and tsunami. There are a number of events around the UK taking place to remember the victims and to show support and solidarity with all of those affected in Japan. Below is a list of events as of 10 March. We will be constantly updating our JapanUK Events Calendar and welcome all applicants wishing to promote Japan-UK related events through our website.
The Embassy has been active in encouraging Japan-UK cooperation in the area of disaster protection by inviting various speakers from different areas of expertise to share their latest findings and developments.

At a recent symposium held at the Embassy on 5 February 2014, the latest systems for monitoring tsunami were discussed and it is hoped that Japan-UK cooperation will develop further in this area, as well as in the area of policy for disaster protection at the regional level.
