Discover the types of houses – and windows – that Japan’s architects are designing today through the work of French photographer Jérémie Souteyrat, whose images of contemporary Japanese houses are currently on display in the Japan House London exhibition Windowology: New Architectural Views from Japan.
During the talk, Jérémie discusses his projects tokyo no ie and Japan, Archipelago of the House which capture images of residential buildings throughout Japan designed by a range of architects including acclaimed studios such as Atelier Bow-Wow and Sou Fujimoto. Jérémie's images document not only the houses created by these architects, but also everyday life in the neighbourhoods in which they are located. Through his distinctive documentary approach which shows what the houses look like when they are used, one can understand how the buildings are designed to relate to their surroundings and natural environment.
The book tokyo no ie is available to purchase in The Shop at Japan House London. Following the talk, guests who purchase a copy in the Shop will have the opportunity to have their book signed by Jérémie Souteyrat himself.
