Curator Talk by Hasegawa Yuko

Join leading Japanese art curator Hasegawa Yuko, for a special talk at Japan House London revealing the processes and inspiration behind a number of her high-profile international art curation projects.

Director of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, and former Artistic Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (2016–2021), Hasegawa has curated numerous exhibitions in Japan and around the world.

These include Japan House London’s latest exhibition Symbiosis: Living Island which opens in the Gallery on 21 May 2022 and explores the large-scale art and architecture initiative Inujima ‘Art House Project’ which Hasegawa also leads as Artistic Director. This living art project aims to bring life back into the island of Inujima and ensure its longevity through art, pavilions and creative projects which are inextricably connected with their surroundings.

During the event at Japan House London, Hasegawa discusses her approach to curation with reference to the Inujima 'Art House Project' and her other recent curation projects in Japan and abroad.

See the exhibition Symbiosis: Living Island in the Japan House Gallery from 21 May until 4 September 2022.
