Join the British Sake Association and Tengu Sake on May 27th in Putney for an evening of premium and rare Japanese sakes from the Noguchi Naohisa Sake Institute in Ishikawa Prefecture, perfectly paired with a selection of gourmet dishes. Come learn about the unique sake style in this region of Japan and be transported to Ishikawa through your sake glass.
The Institute's head brewer is the legendary 89 year-old Mr. Noguchi Naohiko, who has been making sake for 73 years and is widely known as "the God of sake brewing". This new state-of-the-art yet traditional brewery was established in 2017 to help pass on Noguchi-Toji’s skill, spirit and sake philosophy to a new generation of brewers. Mr. Noguchi specializes in rich, full-bodied unpasteurized sake styles (called nama-jukusei in Japanese), coupled with the yamahai brewing technique that contributes robust flavour and a natural refreshing acidity. Oliver Hilton-Johnson, the owner of Tengu Sake, is the exclusive UK importer for the Noguchi Institute's sake and will join us on the night to introduce these special bottles and share a personal greeting from Japan to our guests from Mr. Naohisa himself.
This event will be a fabulous chance to enjoy these premium, rare sakes with a gourmet menu prepared by Chef Issa Cissokho. Chef Issa has over 20 years of experience working in top kitchens in the UK and Europe, including the Fat Duck, and was sous chef for Anthony Worral Thompson.
