For the first time in Retford, Otaku World LTD will be holding Japan Fest. An event in celebration of Japanese culture and anime at Retford Town Hall. This event is being meticulously crafted by passionate and motivated individuals to bring just a small taste of Japan to Retford.
Japan Fest is honoured to announce that the published Manga author and Jiman competition winner, Chie Kutusuwada, will be teaching aspiring artists a Manga for beginners' workshop plus a Manga seminar for those interested in Japanese style drawings. Alongside her is a professional JPOP artist performing live for the festival; MION has toured around the world, performing at multiple music events, and has won multiple awards such as the YAMAHA's Music Revolution competition, in 2016 her single 'Summer Magic' ranked number 1 on the Oricon Daily Charts. The hope being she can bring some contemporary Japanese culture to contrast against Aki Kitagawa, an expert in the traditional Japanese instrument, the Koto.
Japan Fest Retford will also be hosting multiple activities on the day such as a Pokémon switch and YuGiOh tournament, Traditional Japanese arts and crafts, Japanese Tea and Coffee, Origami, Tea ceremonies and a beginners Japanese language workshop. This is all alongside a wide range of handpicked stalls that fully embrace the Japanese Cultural theme Japan Fest is aiming for. The aim is that we can one, cater to the Japanese community and two, create an environment where the average person, no matter the age, can enjoy a day immersed in a culture which otherwise would be near impossible to engage with.
