Sake Tasting Experience for World Sake Day

To celebrate World Sake Day on 1 October 2022, Japan House London invites guests to drop into The Shop and taste up to nine different varieties of sake.

Each sake is a finalist at the 2022 International Wine Challenge Sake Competition, the world’s largest sake competition. Some varieties are not yet readily available in the UK.

Leading UK sake experts will run the free tasting experience and explain the story behind each sake. This experience is offered in partnership with Sake Samurai UK. Bottles of several different sakes are available to purchase in The Shop.

World Sake Day, or Nihonshu no Hi, started in 1978 as a day to mark the start of the new sake brewing year – celebrating everyone in the industry from rice farmers to brewery workers. It has now become a global celebration and an occasion to raise a toast with sake together.

Japan House London operates a Challenge 25 policy, so guests who look under 25 may be asked to show proof of age. Japan House London reserves the right to refuse to serve alcohol to guests. Please drink responsibly. Visit drinkaware.co.uk for more information.

This experience is offered in partnership with Sake Samurai UK.
