Join us to discover more about the practice of ikebana, the Japanese art of floral design. An expert tutor will create three spectacular, seasonal arrangements for us, followed by an opportunity for the audience to ask questions. The demonstration will show how cut stems, leaves and flowers are arranged to create an aesthetic balance between the flowers, vessel and the surrounding space.
The oldest and largest school of ikebana, Ikenobō was established over 500 years ago by Buddhist priests at the Rokkaku-dō temple in Kyoto. Since then, the practice of ikebana has evolved into over 3,000 different schools, each with their own distinctive style.
This event is held in collaboration with Japan House London.
