Curious about the different strains of rice used to make premium Japanese sake? Join us at West London Wine School for the second session in our 3-part sake varietal series to learn all about Gohyakumangoku, the famous sake rice of snowy Niigata prefecture. The name may be a mouthful to say, but this rice strain is renowned for making light, crisp, dry sake that pairs perfectly with food. In this class we will experience the full range of what this versatile rice is capable of in the hands of talented sake brewers.
During the evening you will taste six different premium Gohyakumangoku sake across a range of styles, accompanied by fine cheeses and Japanese-influenced nibbles. This class is suitable for all levels, from sake newcomers to those who are currently studying or have already completed WSET or other sake credential courses and want to further hone their sake tasting skills.
Cost: £45 per person, or £40 if booking for our full 3-part rice varietal series on Mar 7, 14 and 21
