Looking for something different to pair with your favourite food, Japanese sushi? Join us at South London Wine School for an evening introduction to sushi and beverage pairin!. Matching sushi with wine is actually quite tricky to do well, due to the power of umami (savouriness, the "fifth taste") and the delicacy of raw fish – but don’t fear, we will give you all the tips and tricks to match sushi and wine with success. Our wine & sake tutor and resident Japan expert Sarah will pass on some simple food pairing rules and introduce you to some classic as well as more unusual types of wine and sake pairings.
On the night you will enjoy four hand-selected wines, including a koshu, Japan's indigenous white grape varietal that goes beautifully with sushi, as well as two premium sakes - all paired with a selection of freshly made sushi from a local restaurant favourite.
You'll take home lots of useful information to help you choose the perfect beverage match for your sushi selections, find out exactly why Japanese sake is such a great pairing partner with fish, as well as which styles of wine to aim for and to avoid for sushi pairing success.
Cost: ££50 per person
