We are delighted to welcome Mr Hiromi Yamaji, Group CEO of Japan Exchange Group, to share with members of the Japan Society his assessment of the state of the Japanese economy and the challenges it faces. Since taking up his new role at JPX on 1 April, Hiromi Yamaji has spoken out about the need for Japanese companies to improve their return on capital and how current policies and reforms can encourage further inward investment.
Following initial remarks by Hiromi Yamaji, he will join Japan Society chair Bill Emmott in conversation, when they will doubtless explore these issues as well as steps announced by G7 leaders at their Hiroshima meeting to enhance strategic coordination on economic resilience and economic security. There will be time also for questions posed by the Japan Society audience.
Hiromi Yamaji is Group CEO of Japan Exchange Group, Inc. He joined the group in June 2013 as CEO of Osaka Exchange Inc, then was appointed as CEO of Tokyo Stock Exchange Inc in April 2021. Before joining the group, he served as Executive Vice President and Head of Global Investment Banking at Nomura Securities Co., Ltd. During his career at Nomura , he served as CEO and Chairman of its overseas affiliates He graduated from Kyoto University and holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
