Heritage Open Days: Sainsbury Institute Open Day

Usually closed to the public, the Sainsbury Institute will be opening its doors this September to showcase our historic headquarters at 64 The Close, as well as display some of the projects we are currently undertaking. From exhibitions at Stonehenge, to local archaeological excavations, to our new ‘Digital Japan’ initiative, we hope you will join us to find out more about the diverse range of activities we are currently involved in.

For this year’s theme of Creativity Unwrapped, we are also delighted to offer a special display of materials related to acrobats and performers of Japan, who made their way to Norwich in the late 19th century and enriched the variety of circus and acrobatic traditions in the UK at the time. Be sure to also sign up to our special talk on Saturday 16th September to find out more about the fascinating story of immigration and cross-cultural exchange embodied by these performers.

No booking required. Please direct any questions about this event to o.butler@uea.ac.uk.
