Matcha and Kasutera - Tea and Cake Set

Kasutera is a popular sponge cake in Japan and is a specialty of Nagasaki in Kyushu, but its origins are in fact Portuguese. It was brought over to Japan by Portuguese traders doing business with Japan, through the port of Nagasaki, in the 16th century.  The name derives from the Portuguese Pao de Castela, which translates as 'bread from Castile.'  The sweetness of the sponge pairs perfectly with the more bitter flavours ofmatcha (powdered green tea).

For a limited time only, enjoy a slice of kasutera together with a cup of matcha for the special price of £5. These tea and cake sets are limited to 50 per day for the duration of the promotion.
