FILM SCREENING The Pledge to Megumi

The Pledge to Megumi featuring the story of Yokota Megumi is a special screening presented by M-Project.

In the evening of 15 November 1977, 13 year-old Yokota Megumi suddenly disappeared on her way home from an after-school activity. Despite a huge search for the girl, all police investigations came to a dead end. Megumi is one of at least 17 Japanese citizens that it is said were abducted and taken to North Korea between the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Released in 2020 by Nobushi Shō, this film is an adaptation of a theatrical play with the same title. The film addresses the plight of Megumi and other victims kidnapped by North Korea, and their families’ efforts to find a way to bring them back home.

Please note that all those attending the screening must be at least 18 years old.
