BARBICAN ESTATE LIVE!
Don’t let the name fool you: the members of psych rock band Barbican Estate didn’t actually grow up there - the Tokyo act are just big fans of Brutalist architecture.
References to titans of art and culture are common for them and they’ve cited the Beat Generation, William Blake, Greek mythology and Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky as influences.
“We seek to embody an art that is not limited by the concept of music” says guitarist Kazuki Toneri.

Barbican Estate formed in Tokyo in 2019 and consists of Kazuki Toneri (Gt, Sitar), Miri (Ba, Vo), and Koh Hamada (Dr, Percussion). They’ve consistently played shows in the Tokyo underground scene along with releasing an EP and 3 singles in 2020. They released their 1st album Way Down East in winter 2021. Barbican Estate uses drones, psychedelic soundscapes, driving rhythms, and vivid lyricism to create their massive sound. The band's influences include Japanese psychedelic/noise rock, US experimental bands, classic film, as well as literary and architectural movements.
From 2022, they moved to London, and are actively working mainly on live performances.

They released their second EP The Fall in winter 2022, and their headline shows in London are often sold out.
