Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk opening at VA Dundee
Japan House London, in collaboration with V&A Dundee, is delighted to offer the special opportunity to be guided through their Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk exhibition on display until 5 January 2025 by one of Japan’s most influential textile designers.
Taking place in the Exhibition Gallery at V&A Dundee, guests have the rare opportunity to explore the intricate craft stories behind the objects on display led by globally renowned designer and founder of NUNO, Sudō Reiko, together with V&A Dundee curator, Kirsty Hassard. The tours highlight the techniques, modern practices, materials, and design processes that define the kimono, as shared by two leading experts in the field.
The exhibition features a kimono designed by Sudō Reiko, alongside around 300 garments, accessories, paintings, prints, photographs, and film clips from the V&A and collections around the world. This is the final stop of the exhibition’s international tour, following its showcases in London, Switzerland, Sweden, and other locations.
This event follows an event series taking place at Japan House London during which Sudō Reiko offers special insight into the current exhibition Design Discoveries: Towards a DESIGN MUSEUM JAPAN and shares the significance of her broader work over the years.
