InsideJapan & Toyama: Cultural Adventures

Join InsideJapan Tours at their central Bristol HQ for an event that introduces the hidden gems of Toyama Prefecture, together with master lacquerware craftsman Takeshi Musashigawa, the fourth-generation head of Musashigawa Kobo.

Musashigawa will lead an engaging talk and live demonstration of the exquisite Takaoka Shikki Raden technique, showcasing the delicate beauty of mother-of-pearl inlay in traditional lacquerware.

Discover why Toyama is an incredible place to visit: nestled between the Japanese Alps and the Sea of Japan, this region offers UNESCO-listed villages, a diverse community of craftspeople, stunning natural landscapes, world-class hiking, and some of the freshest sushi in Japan. Just two hours from Tokyo by shinkansen, Toyama is an easily accessible yet off-the-beaten-path destination. The event will include a reception featuring tea and sake tastings from the region, paired with light snacks.

This is a rare opportunity to meet a Japanese master craftsman in person and learn about Toyama’s rich culture. Plus, InsideJapan’s travel consultants will be on hand to help you plan your own cultural adventure to Toyama and beyond.
