Godzilla battles an alien invasion to defend the Earth in this spectacular third instalment of A Roaring 70th: Godzilla Film Season.
At the end of the 20th century, all monsters (including Godzilla and Mothra) have been confined to the island Monsterland, bringing an era of world peace. But an alien race has its sights set on stealing Earth’s resources, so they infiltrate the island and subjugate its monsters with mind control, before using them to conquer the planet. As humanity struggles to free Earth’s brainwashed monsters, battle commences to defend the planet against the invaders.
With the largest cast of monsters in any Showa era (1954-1984) Godzilla film, Destroy All Monsters has remained a favourite for generations of viewers. An unprecedented eleven monsters battle on screen together, in the final collaboration of the creative team behind the original Godzilla – director Honda Ishirō, special-effects master Tsuburaya Eiji and composer Ifukube Akira. Originally intended to be the last film in the franchise, Destroy All Monsters proved so popular that Godzilla returned the next year with All Monsters Attack.
