Film: Weathering With You

The Beauty and Melancholy: Shinkai Makoto Film Season concludes with Weathering With You, another huge commercial success in Japan following Shinkai’s breakthrough film Your Name.

Set in a Tokyo beset with endless rain, it follows another teenage girl and boy, each of them runaways for different reasons.

High school first-year student Morishima Hodaka has left his home on an isolated island to move to the city but quickly finds himself in financial trouble. Living his days in isolation, he eventually lands a job as a writer for a dubious occult magazine. One day in an alley, Hodaka meets a young girl named Amano Hina, bright and strong-willed, who possesses a strange and wonderful ability: the power to stop the rain and clear the sky.
