Much of Japanese culture and daily habits have been passed down through generations without the use of words. The subtle and delicate ideas behind kokoro no tsukurikata (how we form our mindset) and kokoro no migakikata (how we nurture and refine our mindset) were rarely verbalized or clearly explained.

However, this deep Japanese sense of beauty, sincerity, and purity of thought is not something meant only for the Japanese people. It holds value for people all around the world.

About Yamato Shigusa

“Yamato Shigusa” is the traditional Japanese manners and customs that have been respected since before the year 593, in the Asuka period. This practice is not only about the kata (froms), but also about the heart and spirit behind them.
