Explore the cultures of Japan this summer with a series of free family-friendly activity workshops at Japan House London from origami to pictogram design. During each workshop, participants can enjoy learning about Japan and unleashing their creativity.
Senbazuru (1000 origami cranes) workshops
Marking the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, these workshops invite participants to fold origami paper cranes inspired by the story of Sasaki Sadako, who was two years old when she was exposed to radiation from the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Later developing leukaemia, Sadako folded 1,000 cranes while wishing for recovery. Throughout August, join us in collectively creating 1,000 cranes as a gesture of hope for world peace, with every crane added to a growing display at Japan House London.
