The Ube Sculpture Triennale was launched in 1961 as an international competition for outdoor sculptures, sparked by a post-war civic movement seeking urban beautification and enrichment of heart and mind. On March 26, 2024, it was officially recognized by Guinness World Records® as the “longest-running outdoor sculpture competition.” Award-winning works, along with entries from past exhibitions, now adorn the city and serve as valuable cultural resources utilized in education, tourism, and various other fields. The “Ube Sculpture Triennale 2027” will be held at the Sculpture Hill in Tokiwa Park, showcasing 15 outdoor sculptures and 30 selected models. After the exhibition, the Grand Prize (Ube City Prize) and the UBE Corporation Prize-winning works will be permanently installed in public spaces within the city. ＵＢＥ現代日本彫刻展は、戦後のまちの美化と心の豊かさを求める市民運動をきっかけとして、1961年 に始まった野外彫刻の国際コンクールです。2024年3月26日には「最も長く続いている野外彫刻展」とし てギネス世界記録®に認定されました。受賞作品をはじめ歴代の出品作品がまちを彩り、地域の文化資源 として教育や観光など様々な分野に生かされています。「ＵＢＥ現代日本彫刻展2027」では、ときわ公園 彫刻の丘を会場として、15点の野外彫刻と30点の入選模型を展示します。展覧会終了後には、大賞（宇部 市賞）及びＵＢＥ株式会社賞受賞作品を市内の公共空間に恒久設置します。多くの方からの意欲あふれる 作品の応募をお待ちしています。
