【ABOUT YOKIMONO JAPANESE MARKET】

YOKIMONO (よきもの, meaning “good things”) is a Japan-themed market and cultural event based in East London.
First held in 2019 in Dalston, it has now been held twelve times, introducing London-based Japanese artists, craft makers, food makers, musicians, and performers.
The event also features workshops and demonstrations where visitors can experience Japanese culture firsthand.

 

The next YOKIMONO Japanese Christmas Market will take place at The Factory on December 6th and 7th, the same venue as this Japanese Sample Sale event.

Over 50 traders will be offering authentic Japanese food and sweets (such as okonomiyaki, sushi, takoyaki, fruit mochi, tea, wagashi, and matcha ice cream), as well as vintage kimono, ukiyo-e & illustrations, books & comics, clothing, jewellery, and more — all made in Japan or created by Japanese artists based in London.
 In addition to the wide variety of market stalls, there will be live performances by Japanese musicians, including Taiko drumming, electric shamisen, and BON-ODORI (a traditional Japanese folk dance for summer festivals). Visitors can also enjoy demonstrations of IKEBANA (Japanese flower arranging) and short Japanese film screenings.
Fun and friendly workshops will also be available, including IKEBANA and a “Craft Your Own KITSUNE Fox Mask” session.
