The Art of Japan invites you to experience the refined beauty of two traditional Japanese art forms: Koto and Nihonbuyo.
The koto, a thirteen-string zither, is known for its delicate yet expressive sound. This performance features both classical techniques and a contemporary solo piece, showcasing the instrument’s depth and its evolving presence in modern music.
Nihonbuyo, Japanese classical dance, blends graceful movement, storytelling, and a rich aesthetic tradition. A collaborative classical work will be presented, where dance and music come together to create a vivid and elegant stage experience.
In the middle of the program, we will offer a single explanation segment that introduces the background and cultural context of both koto and Nihonbuyo. This short talk provides helpful insights that allow audiences—especially those new to Japanese performing arts—to enjoy the performance more deeply.
Join us for an afternoon that celebrates the artistry, tradition, and timeless spirit of Japan.
